Introduction
Welcome to ArX, an on-device AI coding assistant powered by flutter_gemma. This Privacy Policy explains how ArX handles — or, more accurately, does not handle — your personal information.
ArX is developed and maintained by Arpandev Bhattacharya, an independent developer. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information we collect
We want to be direct: ArX collects no personal information, usage data, or analytics of any kind. Here is a plain breakdown of what we do and do not collect.
Any preferences you configure, such as theme settings, are saved exclusively on your device using the operating system's local storage. They are never transmitted anywhere.
How the AI works (fully on-device)
ArX runs an AI language model directly on your device's processor (CPU or GPU). When you type a prompt or ask a coding question:
Your text → stays on your device
Processed entirely inside the app using the locally stored model.
Zero bytes are transmitted to any external server during inference.
This works even in airplane mode.
The AI model itself runs using Google's MediaPipe framework, which operates as a native component on your device. The model weights are stored in your device's file system after the initial download and are never uploaded or shared.
One-time model download
The only moment ArX uses your internet connection is the first-time model download — a one-time step when you install and set up the app.
During this step, the AI model file (approximately 1.7 GB) is downloaded from a public model repository to your device. After the download is complete:
Data security
The most secure data is data that was never collected. Because ArX stores nothing on external servers, there is no centralized database that could be breached, subpoenaed, or sold.
All data that does exist locally (preferences, the model file) remains under the protection of your device's own operating system security model. We encourage you to use a device lock screen and keep your OS up to date.
Third-party services
ArX does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking SDKs, or social login providers.
The app is built on flutter_gemma and Google's MediaPipe framework for on-device inference. These are runtime libraries that run entirely on your device; they do not report telemetry to Google on your behalf when used inside ArX.
The Google Play Store may collect its own standard installation and update metrics as part of distributing the app. This is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy and is separate from ArX's data practices.
Children's privacy
ArX is designed for developers and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, there is no special risk to children in this regard.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date. For significant changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify users through an in-app notice.
Continued use of ArX after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
